We've re-engineered the CoB,O to make it easier and more enjoyable for us (and hopefully you) to visit the site. For awhile, both the old and new pages will run simultaneously, however the "old style" CoB,O won't be updated. Eventually the "old style" will disappear...

You can visit the new CoB,O at http://www.cobo.org/index.php

Marvin Gardens

Have You Seen This Man?

Marvin GardensThis man pictured is a legend of sorts. He's the Patron Saint of the Church of Buffett, Orthodox, although we have not seen or heard of his wereabouts since the "report" of his death...

We Church members believe that Marvin pulled an "Elvis," and is now currently traveling around, living the dream that our hero, Jimmy Buffett once shared with him. He remains in our hearts though, and we welcome word of his return.

Marvin's works: (from the author/discography page)

A Love Song (From a Different Point of View) 20-06

Why Don't We Get Drunk 03-06; 09-15; 15-09;

Although his songwriting ability is without equal, Buffett chose to record only one of his songs. "A Love Song" is of course the 'unauthorized version' off the "Feeding Frenzy" album. It is also rumored that Marvin did indeed pen "Please Take Your Drunken 15 Year Old Girlfriend Home."

Photographs

There are now at least three known photographs of Marvin Gardens. The photograph below is a cropped version of the one taken for the Steve Goodman album, Somebody Else's Troubles. According to credits on the back cover of the album, listed are: "..., John Prine, Marvin Gardens, Nancy Goodman, Miss Jesse Goodman, Steve Goodman, etc...," Marvin Gardens on Somebody Else's Troubles

This one, where Marvin is mentioned, but he must have been accidently left out of the photograph (along with the rest of the "original" Coral Reefer Band). Buffett listed this photograph as (right to left): "Al Vacado, drums; Kay Pasa, bass; Jimmy Buffett, vocals/guitar; Marvin Gardens, guitar; Kitty Litter, background vocals." Marvin Gardens

And lastly, this photograph, acquired from Toby Gibson (and Jarrett Campbell), shows "Marvin" and Steve together with some friends. It's now confirmed that the gentleman to the far left is none other than Dennis Hopper. Marvin Gardens

Yes Virgina, there is a Marvin Gardens

If all this wasn't enough to convince you, read this letter by Bruce Gilbert.
