James William Buffett
2. When and where was Jimmy born?
December 25, 1946 in Pascagoula, Mississippi
Jimmy currently lives in Nashville, TN although he also has residences in Colorado and Florida (among others).
Yes. Jimmy married Jane Slagsvol on August 27, 1977. Jimmy and his wife recently reunited after a 9 year separation.
Yes, he has two daughters. Savannah Jane (b. 6/80) and Sarah Delaney (b. 6/92).
6. Where did he go to college?
He attended Auburn University but received his B.S. in history from the University of So. Mississippi in 1969.
7. What are some of his other interests?
Jimmy is an avid pilot, longtime sailor and an environmentalist. He is chairman of the Save the Manatee club and founder of Friends of Florida, which works for the preservation of Florida's unique environment. He is also involved in Greenpeace and the Cousteau Society.

2. Where did the term "parrothead" come from?
Once, when performing at Timberwolf Ampitheatre at Kings Island in Ohio, Jimmy commented on all those crazy folks in the crowd from the Cincinnati area wearing Hawaiian shirts and parrot hats and who keep coming back to every show. "Just like DeadHeads," Jimmy commented. Coral-Reefer Timothy B. Schmidt (who also played Bass for the Eagles between stints with the Coral-Reefer Band) replied, "yea, ParrotHeads!"

4. Is Greg "Fingers" Taylor related to James Taylor?
No.
Spell his name correctly!! There are two 'T's in B-U-F-F-E-T-T
Gardner McKay starred as Adam Troy in the 1959-1962 TV series
"Adventures in Paradise" about a guy, a gal, a bar and a boat
(the Leaky Tiki).
3. Who are the Coral Reefers (past and present)?
The Coral Reefer Band is Jimmy's backup band. Members include:
Michael Utley - keyboards
Greg "Fingers" Taylor - harmonica
Robert Greenidge - steel drums
Savannah Jane Buffett - vocals (occasionally)
Past members have included Timothy B. Schmidt (bassist for the Eagles) and Steve Goodman.
