We've re-engineered the CoB,O to make it easier and more enjoyable for us (and hopefully you) to visit the site. For awhile, both the old and new pages will run simultaneously, however the "old style" CoB,O won't be updated. Eventually the "old style" will disappear...

You can visit the new CoB,O at http://www.cobo.org/index.php

More on the "mystery album" mentioned previously due out in April: in the latest issue of Rolling Stone (#838, April 13) there is a Wherehouse Music advertisement that lists the release date April 25th. I'm assuming this is another compilation/rehash of old material.

Pacific parrot heads may have reason to rejoice later this year. I'm hearing about a November far west coast tour including Hawaii and possibly Australia.

Peter Mayer will not be performing on any of the off nights during the this year's tour.

Seagram's wants to use Todd Snider's punk version of "Margaritaville" for Jimmy's new Margarita Mix. Todd had done that song several times live and while recording in Memphis, late and drunk one night the Nervous Wrecks put it down on tape. Todd picked up the phone and played it for Jimmy at his house and he thought it was funny and never said much more about it. Come to find out Jimmy did remember and it was his idea to call Todd and use that version... I've heard both versions and they are intersting to say the least! Thanks to Bill Lack and Mike Snider

On Inside the NBA, late night edition, they showed Pat Riley's press conference and he mentioned a bunch of Florida newspapers, then one of the talking heads said "He forgot to mention the Coconut Telegrph." Thanks to Rawles Hutcheson

I've updated From The Pulpit. New additions will be posted on the bulletin board so that you all can blast me with feedback at your whims :-)

John Parr sent an excellent picture of The Sauce Boss (see below) cookin' away to share with everyone. To view the picture go to the new bulletin board, click on "Pictures" and away you go! Note that you can upload your own pictures of Jimmy and the Coral Reefers if you'd like...

In today's New York Post travel section there is an article on Belize. "Besides the Jimmy Buffet(t) ambiance, San Pedro has one big draw", and goes on to talk about watersports, etc. Thanks to Al Greengold

Bill "The Sauce Boss" Wharton (the subject of "I Will Play for Gumbo") has cross over tours that puts Bill in or near the same cities Jimmy is playing this summer. He is interested in playing for local PHiP festivities for this summer's tour. You can check his tour dates at sauceboss.com and contact his agent Marla Swartz.

Mac guru Todd Stauffer even doesn't mind Jimmy in Upgrade Guy #35: Al Squashes Bugs, Film at 11.

Mar 25

Many people have asked about Jones Beach. I originally had an April 1 on sale date. However, Margaritaville posted 3/25 this week, so I figured it would be better to be safe than sorry, and listed 3/25. Looks like I was wrong to go with Margaritaville on this one.

Mar 24

In the latest issue of Birmingham Weekly newspaper there is an advertisement for Wherehouse Music and Jimmy Buffett is listed as "Coming Soon" with no date... I have no idea what album this could be.

The Austin-American Statesman has a fun read about Jerry Jeff Walker with some Buffett references in Walker Way Of Life. Thanks to Nancy Kramer

Jimmy Buffett Online now has mp3s from the New Year's Eve and Sag Harbour shows available for download. FTP available at ftp://209.194.199.1.

The latest installment of Chris Dixon's Travels With A Pirate - The Le Select Journey is available at Margaritaville. This chapter, Around the Rock, Back in Time, covers Jimmy's brush with Don't Stop The Carnival: his hotel Au Tour. It's one of my favorites so far.

In the April issue of George there is an article about celebrity activists which mentions that Buffett founded the Save the Manatee Club. However, in doing so the author committed the cardinal sin of all sins and spelled his
name with only one t (buffet). Thanks to Steven Giaier

From Little Flock Distribution:

Little Flock Music is pleased to announce that Scott Kirby's "Too Damn Yankee" is now available and in stock! Call toll-free at 1-877 LIT-FLOK (1-877-548-3565) to order this and Scott's other titles, "Grand Bar Schemes" and "Walkin on Thin Ice."

Of course all of Peter Mayer's CDs, as well as Roger Guth's "Scotch" are available at the toll-free number.

Mar 22

Jimmy Buffett Online has a new version of the New Year's Eve show available for download. You can also try ftp.

Matt Schnell passed this along:

I spent the last 9 days wasting away in islamorada. I stayed at the Holiday Isle Resort (MM84). Wednesday afternoon the Albatross drops out of the sky on the beach in front of my hotel. Buffett gets out and rides a waverunner up to the resort and is whisked away by security. He escapes silently back to the Albatross. I was told Jimmy was signing a contract for a small performance in the next few months.

Mike Veeck visited Washington, DC yesterday to discuss his plans for a minor league baseball team that would play in Washington's RFK Stadium and be called The Senators. Veeck leads an ownership group that includes actor Bill Murray and singer Jimmy Buffett... Thanks to Tom Ponton

According to a post on alt.fan.jimmy-buffett, Ticketmaster will be releasing 10% of total seats that were held back for out of staters. No real time frame, so I guess you have to keep trying...

Margaritaville is listing Jones Beach as going on sale this Saturday, March 25.

Mar 21

Chi Chi's in Minneapolis has hanging from the bar ceiling signs that say "Join us at the Margaritaville Cantina." Hmm, wonder how long it'll take for them to receive a letter from some legal eagles? Thanks to Jeremy Coe

Received this email:

For those anticipating comp tickets for this summer's tour and want to know what kind of seats they will receive, here is some info:

Today, I received my free tickets to the Las Vegas show. Face value $150.00 each. I got four seats because I paid for two $1,500.00 tickets to the New Year's Eve show. The location I Floor, Right Center, Row L.

Keep in mind that in Vegas, the hosting casino usually keeps the prime seats for its high rollers. Also, this is a stadium venue and I got our seats together.

Ticketmaster has confirmed the Alpine Valley on sale date of 3/25 at 10am. Thanks to Chris Loftus

Mar 20

From Radio Margaritaville:

The Radio Margaritaville series of Buffett concert rebroadcasts heads to Sag Harbor, NY for a very special show from last October. It was a Montesouri school benefit concert that Jimmy Buffett performed solo. Don't miss a single story or song! It's part of our Coming of Spring Celebration, Tuesday (3/21) at 11am eastern, Thursday (3/23) at 5pm eastern and another Saturday night (3/25) at 11pm eastern.

Pictures from the Parrothead convention in Burlington, Vermont are available.

Interesting article on Bruce Cockburn (who wrote "Pacing The Cage") in Canoe's Weight of the World.

Jimmy recently played at the Paris Hotel for Metromedia Restaurant group in Las Vegas. Thanks to Max Glasheen

The original online sober Buffett fan group Lucky Stars has a brand new website for Parrotheads who have survived stuff that makes riots, fires and mudslides, not to mention hurricane season seem like nothing and those out there who simply don't participate in the boozin' n' usin' portion of life.

For those who didn't check in over the weekend, the new poll is to your left (results below), and the bulletin board is being upgraded. You can whine to others about how Ticketmaster screwed you (I did), swap concert tapes, see my favorite drink recipe, prepare for upcoming shows, and more.

Mar 19

Rumored on sale date for Jones Beach is April 1 (no foolin').

As many have written in (and I saw myself!), there was a CoB,O-esque Buffeett reference on The Simpsons tonight. Bart says "We were going to do a song by Jimmy Buffett, but he uncoolly charges bands to docovers of his songs, so here's one our own: Wasting Away In Daiquiritaville."

At the Islandfest post-show party, after their performance at Westbury earlier this week, Mike Utley said that he was heading to Vegas to play a "Private Party". Apparently, it's another promotional effort on behalf of Margaritaville Tequila. Thanks to Joe Lombardi

OnlineScavenger.com is giving away two tickets to the September 2nd show at The Tweeter Center. It is a free online scavenger hunt that leads participants to different web sites through various clues. A special is being run to give these two pavilion tickets (Section 7, Row BB) away to one lucky winner.

Many have written in complaining of a ticket scalper flooding the Ticket Swap with ads. I spent about 20 minutes deleting this jerkwad's ads... time I could have spent doing other things on this web site. I am voicing my displeasure by calling his 1-800 number so that he has to pick up the tab for my complaints on wasting my time and ignoring the no scalping rules (not to mention spamming me with about 25 emails today). If you'd like to tell this guy off and cut into his scalping profits, call his toll free number at 1-800-371-8499. I'd appreciate it :-)

I'm hearing rumors of a Cleveland date of August 15 to be added, with an on sale date of 3/24... According to the 3/14 Plain Dealer (Cleveland OH), a date at Blossom Music Center may be confirmed soon, according to Jennifer Black, marketing director for the amphitheater in Cuyahoga Falls. It should be decided one way or the other in the next two weeks. Buffett skipped the Cleveland-Akron market last summer. His last appearance at Blossom in June 1998 drew a capacity crowd of 18,000-plus fans. Thanks to Drew Warren

New groups have been created for the March Madness pools. See below for additional group IDs.

You can join March Madness CoB,O-style by submitting your NCAA tourney picks to the CoBO group at Yahoo. The top three winners (from the groups combined, not individual groups) will receive gift certificates from Shark Eye Productions among other goodies... The Margaritaville Store will be a sponsor on The Hunger Site on Wednesday, March 15.

More on sale dates have been added to Tour Central.

The latest entry to Travels With a Pirate: The Le Select Journey, Bienvenue A Le Select, is now online. I've never seen pictures like this of Le Select and now I wish I had been down there...

Mar 12

Margaritaville has confirmed the tour dates posted at Tour Central earlier this week.

Peter Mayer's latest CD, Spare Tire Orchestra, is now available at Amazon.com for $15.99.

Bill "Sauce Boss" Wharton thanks Jimmy:

SAUCE BOSS GAZETTE SPECIAL EDITION
March 10, 2000

AN OPEN LETTER TO JIMMY BUFFETT:
I gotta thank a buddy for givin' me a helping hand . . . a tip of the hat .. . . a little pat on the back . . . a great big yeah! Thank you so much, Jimmy, for turning your fans on to the Sauce Boss. Since you recorded "I Will Play for Gumbo," all these hungry guys in loud shirts are showing up at the gigs. So we're goin' to git down for you on Radio Margaritaville--a live performance on the Internet.

Wednesday, March 15, 2000, about 9 PM on Radio Margaritaville

Jimmy and his lawyers have gone after another unauthorized use of "Margaritaville" as the Naples Daily News reports in Buffett warns Naples developer over use of 'Margaritaville' in ads. This one makes more sense to me than going after a small pub in Montana:

FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) Singer Jimmy Buffett doesn't want to see ''Margaritaville'' wasted away. The normally laid-back singer has warned a Naples, Fla., developer about possible trademark infringement for using the slogan ''Where Margaritaville meets Nantucket'' in its ads for Fiddler's Creek, a golf and marina development. The developer, Gulf Bay Management, Inc., filed suit in U.S. District Court on Thursday to keep using the phrase, rebuffing a Feb. 1 letter the firm received from Buffett's lawyers. Jennifer Whitelaw, an attorney for Gulf Bay, also argued the developer is entitled to use the terms in exercising its right to free speech. Buffett's 1977 hit ''Margaritaville'' portrays Key West's easygoing lifestyle. He also owns several ''Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville'' cafes and stores, including one in Key West.

Mar 10

Don't forget to check Tour Central for the latest ticket on sale dates. I've been updating it throughout the day...

The April issue of Power & Motor Yacht has JB's new yacht on the cover, and a photo spread inside (it's the featured boat of the issue). It is only identified as JB's brand new boat in the editorial page: a 90 foot Cheoy Lee motor yacht-very traditional, more like a trawler than ont of those super sleek European designs. He paid close to $5,000,000 at the recent Miami boat show. Funny note: the editor writes that he is an "OLD" Buffett fan (before the worn out phrase of parrot head was thrust upon us), and comments that while in the Margaritaville store in Key West, he just knew that if such a store and "star" existed in early Key West, Buffett would have made fun of it in one of his songs. Thanks to Michael W.

Fingers' St. Patrick's Day shows: March 17 & 18 LJ Street Club, Onancock, VA, 9PM. The Bennett Street Band will be performing with Fingers. March 18: Meet and Greet with Fingers at The Island House Restaurant, Wachapreague, VA. (757) 787-4242 and ask for Randy Lewis. Starts around 5PM. With purchase of dinner special, you get to spend time with Mr. and Mrs. Taylor. T-Shirts and Cd will be on sale.

In this weeks Sports Illustrated (scorecard, page 32), they mention Jimmy and "Permanent Reminder," referring to a college football player applying for the NFL draft, and then changing his mind. Too late, he was told, he's now ineligible. Thanks to Al Greengold

Peter Mayer's web site has been completely redone. It's got all kinds of great surprises, including a never before released tune available.

Peter Mayer has donated an autographed BHOTM Baseball hat for the Virtual Parrot Head Club's March Charity auctions on eBay. Proceeds from the auction go to benefit the Alzheimer's Association.

Here is a perfect excuse to help others:

The Nancy Bryan Memorial Fund

The Peter Mayer Fan Club would like to announce the formation of the Nancy Bryan Memorial Fund. As many of you are aware, there have been several posts concerning ways to honor and remember Nancy, the wife of Peter Mayer Group percussionist Scott Bryan, who recently passed away after a long bout with cancer.

The PMFC would like to collect funds from any fans or friends of Scott's, wishing to make a contribution. A list will be kept of those making a donation, and at the time the amount is turned over, Scott will receive a list of those whose donations make up this gift.

When all donations have been collected, they will be turned over to Scott for a trust fund, which is currently being set up for Scott and Nancy's three sons.

Each board member of the PMFC will be making a personal contribution to this fund to get it started. We hope you will join us so we can show Scott that we care about him and his family and are here to help in any way we can.

Contributions should be sent to:
Nancy Bryan Memorial Fund
c/o PMFC
925 Indian Springs Drive
Lancaster, PA 17601

Please make checks payable to the Peter Mayer Fan Club and list your name as you wish it to appear when notification of your gift is sent to Scott.

On Fox News' Super Tuesday election night coverage, panel member Dick Morris summed up the too-close -to-call race in New York state on the GOP ticket by saying "Jimmy Buffett has a song that goes 'if the phone doesn't ring, it's me. This pretty much sums up the race in New York. If the phone doesn't ring, it's too close to call." Thanks to Chris Marcinko

Remember that Fingers won the recent favorite CRB member poll? Amy Lee (who came in a close second) responded:

Fingers passed along the following to COB,O:

Fingers: "I caught word that I had won the weekly poll for favorite Coral Reefer, and just wanted to say thanks to everyone that voted for me. It really means a lot. I can't believe I beat out Amy Lee -- she's my favorite Coral Reefer."

Amy: "THAT'S FUNNY..........CUZ FINGERS IS TRULY MY FAVORITE!!!! :o)

Episode #92 (I believe it originally aired May 13, 1978) of Saturday Night Live with host Richard Dreyfuss; Jimmy Buffett; Gary Tigerman, Actors: Dan Aykroyd, John Belushi, Chevy Chase, Jane Curtin, Garrett Morris, Bill Murray, Laraine Newman, Gilda Radner will be shown again early Sunday morning at various times (2-3 am mostly) depending on your local NBC affiliate. You can check your local listings... Thanks to Evan Chesler

You can now send electronic Margaritaville postcards.

Those going to the Las Vegas show may be interested in Parrot's Paradise Outdoor Block Party. Thanks to Scott Simonds

Drew Warren passed along the following:

PARROTHEADS, PORK, JAZZ: Jimmy Buffett didn't make it to Blossom Music Center [Cleveland] last summer, more's the pity, but true believers will have a Parrothead party on Friday, March 17, at 8 p.m. in the Odeon in the Flats. This will be a Green Parrothead Party featuring a Buffett tribute band, Gypsies in the Palace. If you wear parrothead apparel or a bit of the Irish green you get in free. Radio WQAL FM/104.1 is giving away free tickets.

THE FORT WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM February 27, 2000, Sunday
POSTCARD FROM PORT CHARLOTTE

Tom Hicks [owner of the Texas Rangers] stopped off in Port Charlotte yesterday on his way back to Texas from a cruise in the Caribbean. His brother Steve was celebrating his 50th birthday, and he invited 40 couples to join him. Lt. Gov. Rick Perry was among them.

The big surprise was at St. Bart's.

"We had lunch at this restaurant, looked up on stage and there was Jimmy Buffett," Hicks said. "That night at dinner, we looked up on stage and it was Clint Black singing. The next night, we go to this old historic bar, turns out the entertainment was the Beach Boys. Clint Black got up there with them."

"Best birthday party I've ever been to."

H.S. Graduation Displaced By Buffett Show
The Washington Post, 2/27/00

.... Last year, Stonewall [Stonewall Jackson Sr. High School in Manassas] and Nissan Pavilion signed a contract stating that the graduating Class of 2000 would hold its graduation at the Nissan Pavilion on June 15.

On Jan. 4, four months before our graduation, the principal, Steven Constantino, informed the graduating class that he had been contacted by Nissan and that their graduation would not be held there. This is because a Jimmy Buffett concert was added to the schedule on that date.

Scott Henderson has made an mp3 of the Margaritaville Tequila Radio Ad available at the Vault.

Mar 2

According to today's Hartford Courant, Hartford will not be on the tour this summer, but Jones Beach will. On another note, looks like Camden will be 6/6 and 6/8, with Jimmy doing rehearsals there...

I've received advance copies of There's Nothing Soft About Hard Times, the Madacy compilation of Jimmy's first two albums. Two versions exist: one is a 2 CD "collector's edition" and the other is a "best of" edition. I've made the addition to A1A Archives' discography with the artwork.

Mar 1

Well I'm back, updates to be made... Thanks to all of you who sent well wishes. The outpouring of support has been tremendous-I've spent over an hour reading your messages and appreciate all of them. If I replied to each one I'd never have time to update this page :-)

Look for tickets for Virginia Beach to go on sale soon, according to John J. Boyle, chairman of SFX's music group and developer of the Virginia Beach amphitheater, in Media giant buys firm that runs Beach amphitheater. Looks like Cincinnati will get at least one show (like that was in doubt!) as the ball was dropped in Merger likely won't increase concert prices. Another rumor includes Camden on June 6 or 8 or both...

John Jeffcoat passed along the following: I have it on good authority that tour dates will be available in one week, possibly next Monday. My source tells me that the tour will be named "Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays" just like the recent live album and not "Margaritaville Tequila" as has been speculated.

The Mac McAnally web site has some exciting news... The Song of the Month will share a new song or a live version of previously released song from Mac.
