February 1999 Archives February 28 The Boston Herald reports that Jimmy saw Ragtime at the Colonial Theatre last night. Looks like the rumored March show in Toronto isn't going to happen, but how about May? Seems like he wants to come play the Air Canada Centre in May... Thanks to Lyle Wetsch February 27 Jerry Jeff Walker has asked Jimmy to write the foreword for his new autobiography Gypsy Songman. WCBO Reporters has been updated with three new reports, including one from last night's show. February 26 The Boston Globe has an excellent article on Jimmy's new album: A Winter's Tale. As little parrots had been whispering in my ear all week, the reason Peter Mayer cancelled his March 5th show was not to join Jimmy at Margaritaville-Orlando that night but to play there without Jimmy. The official word is the Peter Mayer Band and Club Trini will be performing at Margaritaville, City Walk, Orlando on Friday night March 5 and Saturday night March 6. Times TBA. February 25 No different new songs from Beach House On The Moon were played last night in Long Island (setlist available). I'm still looking for a copy/clip of "Math Suks." February 24 It seems the New York Post article really got everyone's feathers ruffled. The way I see it is why waste your time on writing an angry letter? Just shake your head, shrug, think "you don't know what you're missing," and throw on Livin' & Dyin'. It's not worth getting worked up over-there are many more important things to worry about in life than a poorly written diatribe. The compilation album Elmopalooza took home the Grammy for Best Musical Album for Children. Jimmy and Kermie the Frog sing "Caribbean Amphibian" on this video/album. Rumored dates for Virgina Beach, Virgina: June 8, the Nissan Pavilion in Manassas, Virginia: June 10, June 12, and Walnut Creek in Raleigh: June 15. The newest New Year's Eve rumor is that Jimmy will be appearing at Universal Amphitheater between $1,200 - $2,000 per seat. Rumor has it that Claudia Cummings, ex-Reeferette, sang "Summertime" on a new CD by Swing Cats, entitled Swing Cats. Thanks to Drew Warren Looks like the rumored Arkansas date fell through. Thanks to Rick Garner Hootie and the Blowfish will be hosting their fifth annual golf tournament in April in Blythewood, South Carolina on April 12(?). Jimmy has been invited, but there has been no confirmation from him yet. All proceeds go to the S. Carolina Junior Golf Association and the National Minority Junior Gold Association. Radio Margaritaville hints that it will in fact be broadcasting the free March 4th show at Margaritaville-Orlando, and that it's first program once it goes continuous will be Radio Margaritaville--Maui Style. If anyone, ahem, managed to acquire a recording of any new songs from Beach House On The Moon other than "I Will Play For Gumbo" and "Oysters and Pearls" please contact me. Like "Math Suks" for instance! Trippin' Out magazine lists Margaritaville as one of its favorite bars in New Orleans. The setlist from MSG is available. Bill Wharton is featured on the Margaritaville Cafe CD singing, "Let the Big Dog Eat" and "She's Got a Great Big Fanny." The show airs on ComCast and CableVision networks throughout the state of NJ from 8-9 p.m. on Tuesday, February 23rd. February 19 Radio Margaritaville will reportedly broadcast the March 4 shows live as its grand kickoff, and begin full broadcasting at March 1. If Margaritaville really broadcasts the shows live, the CoB, O will be undoubtedly impressed. "Show your Parrothead Spirit" participants will be judged for the best costume that exemplifies what being a parrothead is all about. The judging will begin around 9 AM. The winner will be presented with two invitations to Jimmy's private party following the outside concert. All participants must have MIX105.1 displayed somewhere visibly on their costume. Jimmy was mentioned on CBS's God's New Plan when some guy told his lady about taking her to Key West for marlin fishing and referred to Jimmy Buffett and Parrot Heads. February 15 Jimmy has some more notes from Beach Music On The Moon. The show at the Margaritaville Cafe-Orlando at CityWalk on March 4 will be a free show. The tickets will be given out by the lottery system on Sunday, Feb. 21 at the Cafe at 8:00am (?). Way to go Jimmy! Thanks to Debbie According the the Miami Herald, Jimmy is one of about 30 musicians to perform in Havana from March 21-28. February 14 Jimmy's second cousin, Brandon Buffett, is a co-captain on the Ohio state swim championship team. February 13 Jimmy was honored in Fairhope, Alabama at the original Mardi Gras parade Adventures In Margaritaville. His mother was also featured in the parade. February 6 Jimmy is mentioned in the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer's interesting column First Lady Bob Dole. Former San Diego Padres player and current coach Tim Flannery used to front a Buffett tribute band. Margaritaville-Universal Studios in Orlando has its soft opening today. February 3 Rumor has it that Fingers is very excited and proud of the new album. The reason they are using a few different producers is the band wants to leave in the "greasy" sound of the early albums and not the overproduced L.A. crap that has come out in the last few years. The tour is starting the first week of June in Charlotte this year with rehearsals starting in mid-May in Charleston again. Thanks to Bob Douillard Wonder what else Jimmy has been up to? JB is busy working on some writing for the upcoming filming of the motion picture Where is Joe Merchant? No word on what he's doing exactly other than working on the script... It apparently is taking up a lot of his free time prior to hitting the road again and after the completion of the Beach House on the Moon recording sessions completed.
